Bambam and Teddy have become the latest housemates to be evicted from reality show Big Brother Naija Double Wahala.
Host Ebuka Uchendu visited the BBNaija participants at the cultural night party on Saturday and announced the surprise eviction of Bambam, who received the fewest public votes.
Nigerians reacted to the sudden eviction with a mixture of humour, shock and disbelief, with some comparing Uchendu to Judas Iscariot for evicting one of the housemates he had mingled with earlier.
However, in a further twist during the live eviction on Sunday, it was announced that Teddy A, Bambam’s partner in the house, would also be leaving due to low votes.
Cee C and Nina were the other housemates that had been nominated for eviction.
Referring to the behaviour of the evicted couple known as ‘Bamteddy,’ Eyo Bassey, CEO of official BBNaija sponsor Payporte, tweeted: ”I hope everyone will understand and see clearly that sex and nudity does not sell on BBNaija. At Payporte we maintained this position. Compared to last season when neither sex or nudity was televised, we all can judge. I hope my fellow colleagues can get the message.
“I warned and they refused to listen. Sex doesn’t sell BBNaija, we insisted on this last season and the show was clean and shattered all records. This weekend eviction is another pointer.”
A few hours later he removed the tweet, posting a new one that read: “I noticed my previous post was misunderstood. It may have sounded offensive to some persons. It’s retracted, deleted and taken down. The primary message will be conveyed better.”
Cee C, Lolu, Alex, Miracle, Nina and Rico Swavey are up for eviction from the house this weekend.
Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Double Wahala housemate Miracle Igbokwe has emerged as the winner of the popular reality TV show.
The 24-year-old, who had just graduated from aviation school before participating in the third season of BBNaija, was the housemate most liked by viewers and won N25m (US$69,500) and a new car.
During his stay in the house, Igbokwe got romantically involved with fellow housemate Nina, was selected as head of house several times, and won multiple challenges that came with cash prizes.
Since winning the show, Igbokwe has been congratulated by many of his fans, some of whom include politician Atiku Abubakar, social media pundit Japheth Omojuwa and musician Don Jazzy.
Omojuwa took to Twitter to say: “Miracle is the winner of BBNaija Double Wahala. Deserved too. He was the most consistent and actually came through winning the head of house and games several times.”
Abubakar also tweeted: “Congratulations to Miracle, winner of BBNaija. Miracle is proof that Nigerian youths are hardworking, innovative and creative. May this victory lead to the miraculous for Nigeria’s youth, who have shown that they have what it takes to help take this great nation of ours to the next level. To Nigeria’s youth I say, continue to believe in yourselves.”
BBNaija housemate Cee C was the first runner-up while Tobi Bakre came third, Alex took the fourth place and Nina came fifth.
Since January 28, BBNaija Double Wahala has been airing on MultiChoice-owned pay TV platform DStv and is based on the format owned by Endemol Shine Group.
