Yobe State Television, the only state-owned station in Damaturu, Yobe State, is on the brink of financial collapse.

The news was revealed by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), which urged the state government to intervene to help the ailing broadcaster. Yobe State Television has old and unusable equipment and, as such, requires investment to undertake repairs and replacements in order to continue on air, the NUJ said.

As revealed in a communiqué signed and issued to media shortly after the end-of-year NUJ state congress meeting held in Damaturu, the NUJ is pleading with Yobe State government to urgently look into the issue.
