Win or Lose, Woke set for cinemas

New Nollywood films Win or Lose and Woke are set to be released in cinemas in the coming weeks.

Woke

Win or Lose, produced and directed by James Amuta, hits the big screen on October 21. The comedy film follows a struggling family man living in the ghetto who suddenly comes into possession of a winning lottery ticket. A series of hilarious events unfold as he tries to enjoy his newfound status.

The cast includes Odunlade Adekola, Rachael Okonkwo, Erica Ngozi Nlewedim, Gregory Ojefua, Saeed ‘Funky Mallam’ Mohammed, Dave Ogbeni, Tolu Odewunmi and Jessica Henshaw.

Amuta said on Instagram: “Four years ago, on a dare, my team and I embarked on the journey to make this film – shot in its entirety on location in Makoko. We worked hard on an impossible schedule, but we worked with love and made sure we had fun.

“All the actors came out in full force to support the making of this film. It was a unique experience for me because it was the first time I’d be making a comedy. And it was hard for me – and you already know why – I didn’t get the chance to pull out a character’s kidney while they were still alive. LOL. So, trust me, this one is happy, fun, and no blood. Ehn…no. Not really.”

Meanwhile, crime thriller Woke (which means ‘look up’ in Yoruba) will premiere on November 4. It tells the story of a former secret service agent who is persuaded to take a job brought to him by his former colleague.

Woke is directed by Bimbola Olagunju and produced by Preye Augustine. Its cast includes Kunle Remi, Zack Orji, Tina Mba, Adedimeji Lateef, Linda Osifo and Lanre Adediwura.
