The third edition of the Hi-Life Fest music talent competition will be aired on TV across Africa for the first time.
The 12-week show will be hosted by Nollywood actor Gideon Okeke, best known for his role in the hit TV series Tinsel.
Regional auditions are set to be held in Enugu, Asaba, Awka and Aba from June 9, after which participants will undergo mentoring by leading acts in the Nigerian music industry in Lagos.
The quarterfinal will take place in Port Harcourt on July 14, while the semi-final and final will be on July 29 in Enugu and on August 11 in Onitsha respectively.
Hi-Life fest is an initiative from Life Continental Lager Beer, part of Nigerian Breweries.
Life Lager brand manager Chidi Egwu said: “Hi-Life Fest has been one of our most beloved experiential platforms. This is one of the ways we connect with our consumers and celebrate our shared love for highlife music.
“After two successful editions, which produced two remarkably talented individuals, we’ve decided to take this competition a step further and showcase these talents to the whole of Nigeria.
“Our partnership with [lifestyle and music channel] Soundcity will see us release episodes of this year’s competition. This television treatment will not only showcase the talents of our contestants but will also profile their evolution as they go through the tournament.
“We want to celebrate their progress and show the world that some of the best musical talents can be discovered in south-eastern Nigeria.”
