African broadcaster and media company TVC Communications has secured broadcast rights to air this year’s edition of the Nigerian version of UK gameshow format Who Wants to be a Millionaire?.
The Nigerian show is sponsored by payments and financial technology company UP, in collaboration with BLK Hut Media, producer of the Nigerian version of the show, under licence from format owner Sony Pictures Television.
TVC Communications commercial director Ronan Redmond said: “We are happy to announce that we have acquired the right to air the new season of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? on our pure entertainment channel TVC. WWTBAM will run for one hour on TVC every Sunday between 21.00 and 22.00 for 52 weeks.
“This means that our audience of more than 5.5 million viewers will have the opportunity to watch the return of WWTBAM on TVC with a bang that would create lasting memories in their minds.”
“What can I say? I’m happy, grateful and excited to be part of the historic success of the airing of this first episode of the series. Frank Edoho is a stupendous host and the positive feedback from Nigerians make all the sacrifices worth the wait,” added the CEO of BLK Hut, Hakeem Condotti.
WWTBAM airs on TVC on Sundays at 21.00 and on GOtv channel 27, and StarTimes channel 121. WWTBAM Nigeria debuted on Silverbird TV in 2004.
