Nollywood star Joseph Benjamin, the former host of Nigerian TV show MTN Project Fame, has begun appearing in a drama series on the Oprah Winfrey Network in the US.
Benjamin is playing accountant Joseph Obi in Greenleaf, which is in its third season on the cable network backed by the US talkshow queen.
Created by Craig Wright, Greenleaf is produced by Winfrey’s Harpo Films and Lionsgate Television. Other cast members include Keith David, Merle Dandridge, Kim Hawthorne, Lynn Whitfield and Lamman Rucker.
Benjamin, who landed the part in May, said: “This right here was a humbling moment for me. Only God can make such things happen. As long as you maintain a positive mental attitude. Nothing is impossible. You just keep going. It might not happen immediately but it sure will. This was a proud moment for Nigeria and Africa at large to see us well represented.”
Benjamin has previously appeared in movies such as Tango With Me, Married But Living Single, Mr & Mrs and Murder at Prime Suites. He was named African Actor of the Year at the 2012 African Film Awards.
