TVC News named TV station of the year

TVC Communications network TVC News has been named Best Television Station of the Year at the 26th Nigeria Media Merit Awards (NMMAs).

According to the organisers of the ceremony, which was held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos, the award recognises TV News’s invaluable contribution to Nigeria’s broadcasting industry.

The judges added that the network’s innovation, professionalism and customer focus saw it surpass its competitors.

Stella Din-Jacob, director of news at TVC News, received the award on behalf of TVC Communications. She said: “We are delighted to be awarded the winner for the Best Television Station of the Year. Having our hard work recognised is a big motivation to work harder and will serve as the tonic that we need to prove to Nigerians that we are both dynamic and innovative.

“Going forward, we will step up the tempo to ensure such laurels become second nature to us. What we did this year, we need to do better because we are only as good as our last performance.”

She added: “We must be seen to live up to our USPs, which are being first, accurate and reliable. Our viewers should expect excellence, professionalism and innovation. TVC News is highly honoured to have received the award. Our dynamic news team is excited to continuously provide consistent and reliable news to our viewers.”

The NMMAs are the foremost media excellence awards in Nigeria and the most prestigious annual celebration of the best in the Nigerian media industry.

Channels TV wins top NMMA gong

Nigerian broadcaster Channels TV has been named TV station of the year at the Nigeria Media Merit Awards (NMMA), marking the 12th time the network has received the honour, reports Gabriella Opara.

Channels TV won the top NMMA for the 12th time

Channels TV assistant general manager Kingsley Uranta accepted the award on behalf of Channels Media Group, after the TV station was announced as the winner by the emcee of the event, Gbenga Adeyinka.

Also bagging an award at the  ceremony was Channels TV presenter Gimba Umar, who was named television newscaster of the year.

Channels TV, which received its first NMMA in 2000, has a viewing audience of more than 20 million, locally and internationally.

The NMMAs are held annually to celebrate and recognise media excellence in the country. This year’s event was attended by dignitaries and top media personalities including Nigeria’s minister of information & culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and the chairman of the Broadcasting Organizations of Nigeria, John Momoh.
