Africa Magic cooks Jollof with Isime

MultiChoice-owned movie channel Africa Magic has launched a cooking show hosted by Nigerian actor and media personality Nancy Isime.

Jollof With Me is a hybrid cooking show in partnership with global leading hand-wash brand Carex and dishwashing liquid company Morning Fresh.

In the show, Isime invites famous friends over for a meal and fun, light-hearted conversation. It also sees Isime making a cocktail that best describes the guest, who then tastes and rates the drink.

Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, channel director at Africa Magic, said: “It’s the season of celebration despite all that has happened in this interesting year. We all know how important food is during the festivities, and Africa Magic is always looking out for content to keep the subscribers entertained.

“This is why we have partnered with two important brands, Carex and Morning Fresh, to come up with this exciting cooking show to give our audience new cooking techniques while listening to relevant social conversations. Jollof With Me will really keep you entertained.”

The new show airs every Sunday.

The Voice Nigeria S3 opens for auditions

Musical talent show The Voice Nigeria has begun online auditions for season three.

This year’s show, which aims to uncover the brightest of Nigerian musical talent for the global stage, will be fully produced in Nigeria. It will be presented by multi-award-winning TV host and actress Nancy Isime and co-hosted by radio personality and vlogger Toke Makinwa.

Nigerian musicians who will serve as coaches to help the participants find their hidden talents will include Dare Art Alade, Falz The Bahd Guy, Waje and Yemi Alade.

The executive producer of the show, Akin Salami, said: “We are excited to kick off The Voice S3 especially at a time like this when there is a growing appreciation for African music. This is an amazing opportunity to provide a learning platform for exceptional Nigerian talents and to show the world the quality of entertainment we are capable of showcasing.”

The winner of the show, which has launched the careers of talent including Johnny Drille, Chike, A’rese and Nonso, will receive a cash prize, a new car and an international recording contract.

Isime, who auditioned in 2016 but didn’t make the shortlist, said: “I am so excited to be the first female to host The Voice Nigeria. It’s time for S3 and I’m gonna be rocking with the one and only baby girl for life, Toke Makinwa.”

The show is slated to air on DStv channel (Africa Magic), StarTimes, terrestrial TV channel AIT and other stations abroad.

The Voice S3 is produced in partnership with UK broadcaster ITV and international record label Universal Music UK, in conjunction with YouTube, FirstBank Nigeria and gaming company Baba Ijebu.

EbonyLife wraps on Netflix’s Blood Sisters

Nigerian production company EbonyLife Studios has concluded production on thriller movie Blood Sisters, which will debut soon on global streaming platform Netflix.

EbonyLife chief executive Mo Abudu made the announcement on Instagram, saying: “Excited to share the official press release issued by Netflix on Blood Sisters. As the first and only African studio to sign a multiple-title deal with Netflix, our relationship with Netflix is based on a mutual vision: to bring authentic African stories, with superb production values, to both African and global audiences.

“Netflix’s commitment to growing the African film industry is unparalleled and we feel honoured to be part of this journey. We look forward to many more successful productions together. It’s been a busy year for us: Castle & Castle 2, Chief Daddy 2 and now Blood Sisters, yippee!!! And still more to come, trust me, we have a never-ending slate of films and series to roll out to keep you all glued.”

Blood Sisters follows the story of two friends, played by Ini Dima-Okojie and Nancy Isime, who try to cover up the death of one’s fiancé who was killed in self-defence by the other, leading to a catastrophic series of events.

As well as Dima-Okojie and Isime, the cast includes Ramsey Nouah, Uche Jombo, Kate Henshaw, Segun Arinze, Genoveva Umeh, Deyemi Okanlawon, Wale Ojo, Gabriel Afolayan, Toke Makinwa and Kehinde Bankole.

The release date of the movie is yet to be announced.
