Kenyan afro-pop band Sauti Sol are set to launch a reality show on DStv channel Maisha Magic Plus this weekend.
Premiering on Sunday, Sol Family will explore the lives of the four vocalists who formed the band – Bien-Aimé Baraza, Willis Chimano, Savara Mudigi and Polycarp Otieno – as well as other stars signed to record label Sol Generation, such as Nviiri and Bensoul, and the band’s management team.
The show will document the work that goes into making Sauti Sol’s music, delving deep into the musical process and uncovering aspects of their personal lives that make them tick.
Margaret Mathore, channel head at Maisha Magic Plus, said: “We are excited to be launching Sol Family on the channel this August. The series will give viewers a front-row seat to the lives of the band and work that goes behind the production, from scripting to ideating themes, and a touch of drama.
Sauti Sol has worked with African musicians including Burna Boy, Sho Madjozi, Patoranking, Tiwa Savage, Vanessa Mdee, Yemi Alade, Khaligraph Jones, Nyashinski, Bebe Cool, Mi Casa, Toofan and the American singer-songwriter India Arie.
The band has also embarked on several tours in Africa and Europe, topped the Kenyan charts and gained international attention with shows in Europe and the US. The band’s 13-part reality show will air every Sunday at 19.30 on Maisha Magic Plus via MultiChoice-owned pay TV platform DStv.
