Ultima works on Nigerian Family Feud

Family Feud, the 45-year-old US gameshow format, is set to be adapted for Nigeria by Lekki-based production company Ultima Studios.

Ultima Studios produces local shows including Lions’ Den (aka Dragons’ Den), Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, now in its 13th season, and nine seasons of Project Fame West Africa.

Ultima acquired the format rights to Family Feud in 2018, as reported by Content Nigeria.

In Family Feud, two families comprising four members compete to name the most popular responses to gathered survey questions in order to win cash and prizes. A call has been put out for contestants to participate in this years’ edition. To apply, click here.

The producers took to Instagram to say: “Your favourite TV gameshow, Family Feud, is now in Nigeria! Win up to five million naira when you and four members of your family or friends register and play the TV gameshow!

“To win this money, two teams of five individuals each will compete by attempting to give the most popular answers to simple survey questions. The questions can be as simple as ‘What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?’ and the family that wins most points gets a chance to win this cash prize. It’s that simple.”

The show ,which has been on air since 1976, has been adapted in more than 50 international markets. Family Feud Africa, hosted by Steve Harvey, is produced in South Africa by BBC-backed prodco Rapid Blue for broadcaster ETV, where is has aired since 2020.

A Ghanaian version of Family Feud is also produced in South Africa and is broadcast on TV3 in Ghana, also with Harvey hosting. The format has aired in the UK as Family Fortunes and is distributed worldwide by Fremantle.
