Pendwa, the on-demand streaming platform that showcases Swahili African movies and TV shows, has announced its first original show.
Project E will be hosted by Evelyn Manyatta, who will interview people from all walks of life as they share their journeys and experiences and reveal how they are making a difference within their communities and beyond. It debuts on the platform on April 22.
The guests will be from a variety of backgrounds, races, ages, academic interests, life aspirations and nationalities.
Jovin Mwilanga, founder of US-based Pendwa, said: “For all of us here at Pendwa, we are on a mission to share the true stories and journeys of African people who are making a difference within our communities and beyond. That’s why we are thrilled to launch our first original series that does exactly that.
“There is no other streaming platform on the market today that offers high-quality video and incredible entertainment, all in Swahili. We are paving the way for what African culture looks like in the media and we look forward to releasing even more groundbreaking stories through Project E. This is just the tip of the iceberg for us.”
Available as a mobile app and via tablets, computers and smart TVs, Pendwa allows subscribers to watch movies and shows on-demand and will soon allow downloading of content.
It claims to be “the defacto home for African movies that tell African stories and celebrate African culture in the modern age of the internet.”
