Nollywood actor Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and TV presenter Toke Makinwa are set to star in a 1980s-set film directed by Ifan Ifeanyi Michael.
Singing Sin comes from the director’s production company Think Ifan Productions. It has been written by Cheta Chukwu and is being produced by Michael and Kele Ikeata.
The film details the lives of African women in 1980s Nigeria against a backdrop of glamour, deceit and power. “I always wanted to tell a story that champions women and their true essence,” Ifeanyi Michael said on Instagram.
Makinwa who stars as Dera, added: “What attracted me to this project was Dera’s empathy; she had been through a lot of pain in her own life and turned her pain into purpose and was a bridge for her friend when she needed it. There is a lot of emotion, pain and sisterhood.”
Jalade-Ekeinde said: “I play Elektra in this movie. This character is very eccentric and I fell in love with the story. It’s such an incredible story filled with singing, drama, music, family, ambition and dreams; it’s very lush, old glam yet very dark.”
Singing Sin is the first film on Think Ifan Productions’ slate for the year and more details on the project will be shared soon, according to the company. Details of the film’s release have yet to be revealed.
