Biola Matesun, a Nigerian videographer and creative director at Dallas-based MalekFoto Films, is celebrating after winning two Emmys.
His documentary Inner Conflict won the category for editing and cinematography at the awards ceremony, held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.
Matesun said: “God is good, that’s the grace of God. After the best you can do, the grace takes it from there. Without him, we couldn’t have won. We had a lot of TV stations and major networks competing, and see me – a Lagos boy!”
Matesun took up a photography project exploring HIV, poverty and children in 2014 and in 2016, he began shooting weddings through his company MalekFoto.
“I wanted to win on many levels. I wanted people to know that you can do anything if you put your mind to it. To let young people in business know that it doesn’t cost you anything to dream and if you dream it and work towards that dream or belief, you can attain any height,” Matesun added.
