Nollywood producer and stage director Femi Johnson has launched a reality show that will give up-and-coming Nigerian actors the opportunity to showcase their skills to a global audience.

In MonoRoom, actors who have never had the chance to express themselves on screen will get the chance to do so in the form of a monologue.

The first season will feature 26 actors, selected via a screening process. In each episode, an actor will be filmed while preparing and performing a monologue they have written themselves. Johnson will advise and direct each participant.

Johnson said: “MonoRoom is first of its kind and the aim is to feature over 1,000 actors within 39 seasons. The reality show will be distributed across different media platforms, which include but are not limited to cable, terrestrial and social media. Audiences around the world will be opportune to watch the actors perform.

“MonoRoom will give featured actors a head start in the industry both locally and internationally because clips from the show will be sent to producers, directors and casting directors for a possible engagement of the featured actors.”

Johnson has worked on shows including Desperate Housewives Africa, The Johnson, Voice to Fame, Hello Mr Right, Prayer Request and Africa Magic’s Hush.
