Nigerian reality TV show African Diva, launched in 2015, is back with a third season.
Of the women who were auditioned from across Africa, only 22 contestants were selected to move on to the next stage.
They were Kenny Aladetan, Precious Abdulrahman, Lynn Muia, Diaro Roseline, Julia Godwin, Mercy Ogbe, Hope Agbor, Joyce Ruby, Oluchi Alozie, Dianne Yashime, Chika Agamezu, Ruth Samora, Philomena McCarthy, Jasmine Sidibé, Chioma Nwafor, Bukola Rose, Arrey Adonna, Treasure Ushere, Mellisa Osagie, Florencia Suka, Bernace and Love Nebo. They hail from Kenya, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Cameroun and Guinea.
Filmmaker and creator of the show Chika Ike said the aim of the series is to empower young girls to achieve their dreams.
She said: “I decided to help other girls’ dreams come true so they can be seen, heard and discovered all over Africa.”
Contestants will be engaged in tasks and activities for four weeks, after which one will emerge the winner and be named African Diva.
The winner will be awarded two million naira, a one-year movie contract and one year’s supply of accessories, and will be the subject of an international magazine’s cover feature.
Previous season winners were Love Egbules and Ebony Obasuyi. Episode one of the new season can be seen on Galaxy TV, Crystal TV Ghana, DSTV channel 258 and the African Diva YouTube channel.
