Kwesé TV is launching a new docuseries focusing on health and social issues in Ghana this Sunday.
Champions of Society will premiere on June 2 at 20.00. It will be hosted by Ama Abebrese, who returns after a took a two-year break from TV and is also coproducing the show.
Champions of Society will highlight how the social sector is helping those suffering from various health issues such as diabetes, cancer, HIV/AIDS and leprosy.
Abebrese said she was inspired by the hard work of the people featured in the show, which aims to recognise unsung community heroes.
“I really just wanted to highlight people who are making impact in the health sector in Ghana. It is really a passion project and I wish I had more money to do more. But it is just to highlight these people to say they are doing a good job.”
Abebrese produces the show alongside its director, Katie Eavis. An accomplished presenter who started hosting TV shows in her teens on YCTV in London, Abebrese has gone on to present programmes for channels around the world, including BBC2 in the UK.
