Kenyan telecommunications service provider Safaricom is set to debut sports documentary Road to Gold on its mobile-first VoD service Baze.
The documentary highlights Safaricom’s 21 years of supporting sport and features key sports personalities such as Eliud Kipchoge, Catherine Ndereba, Tegla Loroupe, Collins Injera and Henry Wanyoike.
Peter Ndegwa, CEO at Safaricom, said: “Over the last two decades, Safaricom has continued to support and transform the lives of various sportsmen and women in the country. Through events that we continue to sponsor, such as the Safaricom Athletics Series, Lewa Marathon, Blaze eSports and Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom, we have seen that sports have the potential to build cohesion among Kenyans in addition to nurturing talent.
“The documentary is part of the company’s Twende Tukiuke brand campaign, which is a call-out for Kenyans to go beyond what is thought possible. We are particularly proud of the transformation witnessed among our youth as a result of investments we have made in various sports disciplines.”
The miniseries will be available on the platform from this week.
