Baddosneh launches channel on Play TV

Voice of the Street goes live today

Nigerian hip-hop artist Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Baddosneh, has launched a TV channel on cable platform Play TV.

Voice of the Street (VOTS) goes live today in celebration of Adedeji’s birthday.

The entertainment and lifestyle channel feature content ranging from music videos to reality TV, documentaries and red-carpet events.

Play TV channel manager Blessing Ezeala said: “VOTS is the first channel in Nigeria that is owned by an artist.

“This channel will have huge viewership across Nigeria, especially with young people from the grassroots who are keen to immerse themselves in real knowledge of the trends emanating from real music and entertainment in Nigeria.

“It will also serve as a platform for upcoming artists to promote themselves. VOTS aims to be the first choice for not only Adedeji’s fans but generally for young aspirational Africans who love street music, pop culture and entertainment.”

Adedeji added: “This is just the beginning of good things to come to the entertainment industry in Nigeria.

“In Play TV, we have a collaborator that enhances our offering of local content to our fans. For me and my team, we have always aimed to launch a channel that will speak for the streets. The choice of Play TV and the launch of VOTS for us is significant as it will cement VOTS as the leading music and entertainment channel in Nigeria and beyond.”

Stephen Nana (aka Stevenator), who has been appointed head of channel for VOTS, said: “The street is within us all. It is the aspirations, inspirations, perspiration and finally the achievements that keep us going every day. VOTS represents the voice that will tell these stories to the world. I am therefore full of joy that finally the street has found a voice and will be heard from all corners of the world through the VOTS channel.”

VOTS can be found on Play TV channel 255. In February, Play TV unveiled Adedeji as one of its brand ambassadors. The hip-hop star will also be giving out 100 Play TV decoders with 12 months’ free subscription to his fans, in appreciation of their support over the years.

Play TV, formerly known as ConSat, presently has more than 50 channels, some of which are exclusive to the platform, such as: HFA TV, 1 Comedy, 1 Music and Irawo.
