The platform is investing in AWS’s cloud services including Amazon S3 Bucket, Amazon Elastic Load Balancing and AWS Elemental MediaStore.

iBaka TV’s subscription-based streaming service offers over 15,000 hours of Nollywood movies and TV series.

Now able to serve high-resolution videos with reduced data consumption and increased security, the service is also accessible from any part of the world.

Blessed Idornigie, CEO at iBaka TV, said: “We are happy to work with Amazon Web Services to provide our viewers with the highest quality African video content on our VoD platform.”

Earlier this year, iBaka partnered with digital rights management company CastLabs to use the latter’s DRMtoday and PrestoPlay systems to protect video delivery and support new player features across multiple platforms.

“As an entertainment company, our ultimate goal is to contribute in expanding the VoD market worldwide through partnering with major players in the industry,” said Idornigie.

“We are happy to work with CastLabs to provide our viewers the highest quality African video content in our VoD platform. iBaka secures Nollywood content distribution by legally licensing movies directly from the content owners so the world could watch more Nollywood non-stop.”

iBaka TV is part of iBaka Entertainment, which was founded by Idornigie in 2011 in Lagos, with the support of his partners and investors Kazim Adeoti, Dr Gbolahan Olaniyi, Ayodele Awoleye and others.
