African pay TV company MultiChoice is set to debut a new Ghanaian channel called Akwaaba Magic Abusua.

The 24-hour general entertainment channel is intended to be suitable for family viewing and will showcase a mix of authentic content for the Ghanaian market, ranging from drama, telenovelas and comedy to music, movies and reality shows, according to MultiChoice.

Subscribers to MultiChoice’s DStv and GOtv will be able to watch Ghanaian titles such as weekly telenovela Dede, dramas To Have & To Hold and Inside Out (adapted from South African series The Housekeepers), and reality show Sankofa.

International titles such as Gomora are also in the mix, dubbed into local languages. Akwaaba Magic Abusua will launch on May 2 at 16.00 and will air on DStv channel 149 and GOtv channel 108.
