Telecoms company MTN Nigeria presented awards at its recent digital conference as part of an initiative to reward content creators.
The conference aims to promote creativity and ensure Nigerian content creators are rewarded properly.
The MTN Shortz platform was launched in July 2017 to allow content creators to upload shortform videos of between five and 15 minutes long.
Budding TV company 3Sixtyworld Creative received three awards: Best Local Channel, Best Local Content and the Most Trending Channel on social media. The company was presented with cash prizes totalling N6.85m.
Creative agency Aerial View N3.5m as Best Engager and Most Responsive Content Provider.
Leke Yusuf, CEO of 3Sixtyworld Creative, said: “I appreciate MTN and the telecommunications sector; it is a sign that we are being noticed. It shows that Nigerian indigenous content can compete at every level on the global stage.”
Aisha Mumuni, general manager of value-added services at MTN Nigeria, said: “MTN Nigeria realised overtime that content creators were not getting the reward they deserve for the amazing content they create and we are willing to give them a platform where they can thrive.”
