Airtel TV, Times brings Zoom to Nigeria

Nigerian mobile VoD app Airtel TV and India’s Times Network have collaborated to launch Indian glamour and entertainment channel Zoom in Nigeria.

Zoom, based in Mumbai, offers Bollywood content including music, news, original shows, trends, lifestyle and fashion and will be available to subscribers of Airtel Nigeria on the Airtel TV app.

AMC debuts on UK’s Freeview

Africa- and UK-based broadcaster African Movie Channel (AMC) has debuted its flagship channel on the UK’s Freeview television platform.

This launch is via OTT tech company Channelbox on Freeview channel 271 and makes AMC the first Nollywood channel ever to be distributed on the UK’s Freeview platform, according to AMC.

AMC showcases Nollywood movies, along with films from elsewhere in Africa. They include AMC’s own movies from its own production division, AMC Original Productions (AMCOP), and cinema blockbusters for the family.

AMC and sister channel AMC Series are distributed all over sub-Saharan Africa on platforms including StarTimes, StarSat, TopStar, Azam TV, Zuku and Airtel TV. They offer a selection of Africa’s most successful and critically acclaimed movies, TV series, reality productions, talkshows, magazine shows and other shortform content.

Yinka Mayungbo, AMC’s founding director, said: “We launched the first ever Nollywood channel in Europe in 2006. 14 years later, we are back – in time for Lockdown 3! Here’s wishing our audience in Blighty good cheer and a brilliant time watching their favourite Nollywood stars on AMC.”

HFA TV debuts on Airtel TV

African fashion channel HFA TV is now airing via the Airtel TV network.

The 24-hour fashion channel focuses on the continent’s fashion industry, giving viewers an insight into what happens backstage and in the front row at fashion shows, highlighting stylists, designers, models and more.

Its shows include ICYMI: Haute Outside, Haute List: Top Dix and Shop My Closet.

HFA TV CEO Oluwadamilola ‘Wadami’ Amolegbe said: “With over 30 million mobile data subscribers in Nigeria, Airtel is offering its users added value with the introduction of HFA TV and helping us keep to our mission to preserve and promote African fashion.”

HFA TV is available free on the Airtel network as long as you download the Airtel TV app. The channel can also be watched in Nigeria on FreeTV (Channel 821) and PlayTV (Channel 200).
