StudioCanal ups ex-Canal+ Congo CEO
Alix Lebrat, former CEO of Canal+ Congo, has been promoted to chief operating officer of TV series at Canal+ production and distribution arm StudioCanal.
Lebrat had been head of TV series development at StudioCanal since March 2020, with a remit to develop international TV series, particularly those in English.
As chief operating officer of TV series, she will continue to oversee this activity, ensuring the development of international series and increasing production of drama, factual and kids’ content. She will report to Françoise Guyonnet, MD of TV series.
Lebrat joined StudioCanal parent Canal+ Group in 2012 as project manager for Africa One, the company’s development project in Africa. After contributing to the launch of subsidiaries Canal+ RDC and Canal+ Gabon, she was appointed zone manager to develop Canal+’s commercial activities in Mali, Niger, Mauritania, Rwanda and Burundi.
Two years later, she became CEO of Canal+ Congo, a newly created subsidiary whose operations and commercial development she managed for three years. In March 2017, Lebrat was appointed head of sales for Canal+ France and a few months later took on the role of chief of staff to the group’s CEO Maxime Saada.
The move comes as Canal+ increases its activities in Africa, coproducing more dramas such as Spinners, Crime & Justice and Blood Psalms with MultiChoice and upping its stake in the South African pay TV group to more than 26%.
