StarTimes names CEO

African pay TV operator StarTimes has named its Kenya boss as its new CEO.

David Zhang, who worked in management roles at Chinese-owned StarTimes in Nigeria between 2011 and 2014 before heading its business in the East African nation, has taken over from Justin Zhang.

A StarTimes representative said: “David brings over two decades of experience in B2B and B2C capacity in both China and Africa, with a special interest in consumer- and revenue-growth management.”

Justin Zhang’s tenure saw a rise in subscribers to StarTimes as well as new innovations in African pay TV.
