Rugby star Kolisi’s story told on DStv

A documentary about South African rugby player and World Cup-winning Springboks captain Siyamthanda Kolisi is set to debut this month on pay TV platform DStv.

Rise: The Siya Kolisi Story promises to reveal the man behind the jersey, his journey to becoming the first black captain of the South African rugby team and the challenges he faced along the way.

It will unravel the highs and lows of his career and also explore his personal life, including his difficult relationship with his father and the struggles he faced in his marriage.

In sharing his story, Siya said he hopes to inspire others to rise above their own challenges and reach their full potential.

According to DStv, Kolisi’s story is unvarnished and even unpleasant in parts but adds many fresh layers to his narrative.

Kolisi was appointed captain of the Springboks in 2018 and led the team to victory in the 2019 Rugby World Cup Final against England and signed for the Sharks in February 2021.

Rise will premiere at 5pm on February 26 on MNet and IMagic, on SuperSport at 8pm and on Showmax on March 6.
