The move sees Anakle incorporate Mofe-Damijo’s prodco RMD Productions and comes after the actor starred in Anakle Films’ recently debuted Netflix movie The Black Book.

The announcement was made by Editi Effiong, founder of Anakle Films, at the 12th edition of the Africa International Film Festival, which is taking place in Lagos.

Effiong said: “Anakle Films has taken over the assets of RMD Productions and Richard Mofe-Damijo is now the chairman of Anakle Films.”

“As I step into my new position at Anakle Films, I’m excited to contribute to the growth and innovation of African storytelling,” added Mofe-Damijo.

“We have a rich history and vibrant culture that deserve to be shared with audiences far and wide. The Black Book is an example of what we can achieve, and I believe it’s only the beginning of what’s to come.”

Effiong is the writer/director/producer of 2023 Nigerian crime thriller film The Black Book in which Mofe-Damijo played the lead role. The movie tells the story of a retired hitman who returns to his former life when his only son is killed by members of the gang he left 24 years before.

Mofe-Damijo has starred in other movies including Christmas in Miami, Love is War, The Wedding Party and 30 Days in Atlanta.
