Ramsey, Play Network tease slavery film
Nollywood actor and producer Ramsey Nouah and Nigeria’s Play Network Studios are collaborating to produce a Nollywood movie titled Igbo Landing.
Set to debut in 2025, the historical movie tells the story of how a number of Igbo slaves rebelled against their captors in the US state of Georgia in 1803, choosing death over a life of slavery by drowning themselves in a swamp.
Nouah, via his company Ramsey Films, made his directorial debut with the film Living in Bondage: Breaking Free in 2019 and went on to direct 2020’s Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story, a remake of 1995 Nollywood classic Rattlesnake.
Play Network Studios, meanwhile, has produced movies including Nneka the Pretty Serpent, Living in Bondage: Breaking Free and Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story.
Charles Okpaleke, CEO of Play Network Studios, added: “Igbo Amaka!! These are exciting times! Play Network Studios and Ramsey Films will be embarking on another epoch-making journey down history lane.”
