Prime Video takes on Akindele drama series

Nigerian drama series She Must Be Obeyed is set to debut on Amazon’s SVoD streaming service Prime Video.

The five-part series is directed by Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards winner Funke Akindele (I Need to Know, Jenifa) and Abdulrasheed Bello, Akindele’s ex-husband aka JJC Skillz, and offers a window into the lives of three successful music stars. It reveals the cutthroat rivalries and backstabbing activities they engage in, all in an effort to outshine one another and protect their positions.

Amazon said the show “promises a gripping tale of ambition, with laughs, sass and intrigue.”

Akindele stars as a thriving artist whose public humility conceals a realm of avarice, hubris and Machiavellian schemes. She said: “I am about to dazzle you in She Must Be Obeyed. Wanna unleash your inner diva? Coming soon to Prime Video.”

Other cast members include Nancy Isime, Abdulateef Adedimeji, Akah Anani, Veeiye, Waje, Patience Ozokwo, Rachael Okonkwo and Mike Ezuronye.

She Must be Obeyed, produced by Akindele and JJC Skillz’s production company SceneOne Entertainment, premieres today.
