Nnenna competition marks independence

The team behind Nigerian children’s TV show Nnenna & Friends have launched a creative competition to celebrate the country’s independence day on October 1.

The competition is inviting entries from children aged between seven and 13 via social media. Submissions should be in the form of self-expression, adhering to the theme The Nigeria of My Dream. Interested participants can express this via dance, music, drama, spoken words or poetry.

The overall winner will be awarded with a cash prize of N100,000 (US$276) and a laptop, while the runner-up will get N50,000 and a laptop and third place will get a laptop. The competition is open to Lagos State residents only.

Participants are expected to make their submissions via Nnenna & Friends pages on Facebook and Instagram. Entries close on August 17.

According to Nnenna & Friends host Yinka Olukunga (aka Nnenna), celebrity judges will select the finalists, with winners being announced during a special Independence Day show on October 1. This show will be hosted by Nnenna & Friends at the National Theatre, Iganmu in Lagos.

Nnenna & Friends is a weekly series produced by Wale Adenuga Productions. The show, which focuses on educating and entertaining children, is a spin-off from drama series Superstory – Nnenna.
