NIFS, Africast to launch Content Hub
The Nigerian International Film & TV Summit (NIFS) has partnered with Nigeria’s National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), organiser of the Africast Conference & Exhibition, to launch the first ever Nigerian TV & Film Content Hub in Lagos.
The launch will take place within the context of NBC’s Africast broadcast exhibition and conference and the sixth edition of the film and TV summit scheduled to be held from October 24 to 26.
The Content Hub is aimed at revolutionising the TV industry in Nigeria and the rest of Africa, thereby providing broadcasters attending with easy access to high-quality and affordable local and international programming for their TV networks.
The initiative will further drive content acquisition, aggregation, licensing and distribution of local and international programmes to over 300 TV broadcasters in Nigeria and across Africa, spanning various film and TV genres.
There will be industry professionals from Africa, business conversations, screenings, networking events and deal-making opportunities with executive producers, commissioning editors and financiers, according to NIFS.
In a statement, the organisers said: “By joining forces, NIFS 2023 and Africast 2023 present an unparalleled opportunity for film practitioners, television and radio owners and industry enthusiasts to benefit from amplified exposure, unprecedented networking and industry-leading insights.
“The synergy between the two events promises to create a dynamic and transformative experience, fostering growth and innovation within the film and broadcasting sectors.”
Ijeoma Onah, founder of NIFS, said: “In 2022, we had a record number of over 400 attendees registered for this summit and this year with the co-location venue with Africast Conferences & Exhibitions, we are set to break the ceiling with the theme: Break the ceiling! Identifying the barriers to global crossovers, positioning and opportunities for film and TV content.
“We are proudly Nigerian and we remain committed to elevating the film and TV content business for and by Nigerian companies through intentional and strategic positioning of the film and TV content ecosystem to thrive and generate local opportunities for Nigerian independent producers and, of course, distributors.”
