Netflix preps Young, Famous & African S2

The new season of Netflix reality TV series Young, Famous & African, the first African series commissioned by the US streamer, will debut next month.

The show, which returns on May 19, is executive produced by British-Ghanaian media entrepreneur Peace Hyde. It focuses on building careers, looking for love and rekindling old flames of famous media personalities from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Uganda and Tanzania.

New cast members for the second season include Ghanaian-American rapper Fantana, South African entertainer Bonang Matheba and reality TV star Luis Munana from Namibia.

The series stars returning cast members including Nigerian actor Annie Macaulay-Idibia, media personality Khanyi Mbau, South African media personality Andile Ncube, Nigerian music icon 2Baba Idibia and South African-Zimbabwean rapper Nadia Nakai

“Bring on the champagne darling, you didn’t sneeze but we decided to bless you with another dose of African excellence. Season two of Young, Famous & African is back and will be gracing your screens worldwide,” said Hyde.

The first season of the show debuted on Netflix in March 2022.

As well as producing Young, Famous & African, Hyde is head of digital media and partnerships and West African correspondent at Forbes Africa and is the founder of Aim Higher Africa, a non-profit organisation focused on improving the quality of education in impoverished communities across Africa
