Netflix adds more Nigerian content
Global streaming platform Netflix has added a Nigerian political drama film to its expanding catalogue of Nollywood content.
Love is War, a joint production between Dioni Visions and Inkblot Productions, follows a female gubernatorial candidate (Omoni Oboli) in Ondo state whose husband (Richard Mofe-Damijo) ends up becoming her political opponent.
Other Nollywood actors in the cast include Jide Kosoko, Akin Lewis, Bimbo Manuel, Toke Makinwa and Shaffy Bello.
EbonyLife feature film The Royal Hibiscus Hotel is also set to premiere on Netflix. The romantic comedy tells the story of an aspiring restaurateur who returns to her home in Lagos to oversee her family’s hotel and discovers her parents’ plan to sell the hotel to a rich and attractive buyer.
The movie is executive produced by Mo Abudu, directed by Ishaya Bako and stars Nollywood actors including Rachel Oniga, Joke Silva, OC Ukeje, Charles Inojie, Deyemi Okanlawon, Lala Akindoju, Akah Nnani and Ini Dima Okojie.
EbonyLife founder and CEO Mo Abudu took to her Instagram page to announce the Netflix deal. The premiere date has yet to be announced.
