Mzansi Magic takes on Champions

MultiChoice-owned South African entertainment channel Mzansi Magic is set to debut a new telenovela tagged Champions.

Champions follows a female soccer player, played by Joanne Reyneke, who is a symbol of resilience and ambition in a male-dominated world. As the underdog, she stands at the top, determined to challenge the gender norms and lead the Soshanguve Giants FC to success.

Other cast includes Sello Maake ka-Ncube, Kgomotso Christopher, Tumisho Masha and Thato Dithebe among others.

Champions will premiere on 5 February at 19:00 on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161) and is produced by Tshedza Pictures, the same production house responsible for acclaimed TV series such as The River and Gqeberha: The Empire.
