Mbuotidem Johnson joins Mipcom jury

Mbuotidem Johnson, founder of Lagos-based toon studio Basement Animation, has been named as a jury member for the Mipcom Cannes Diversify TV Awards 2023.

Johnson made the announcement on his Instagram page, saying: “Proud to be among the jury of the Mipcom Cannes Diversify TV Awards 2023.”

All programmes submitted to the Mipcom Diversify TV Awards will be short-listed by members of the Mip Markets’ Diversity Advisory Board, comprising leading professionals committed to diversity and inclusion in the global media landscape.

They include Francis Brown, creative director at Animaxfyb Studios, Ghana; Sithembiso Mphele, executive producer, Tshimologong, South Africa; Betty Sulty Johnson, VP of global sales and coproduction, Trace Studios, France; and Mark Garner, exec VP and head of global FAST, A+E Networks, US.

The seventh edition of Mipcom Diversify TV Awards will take place in Cannes during Mipcom from October 14 to 19.

The awards aim to bring attention to deserving programmes of diverse and inclusive backgrounds, spotlighting authentic new and established voices and recognising positive programming across the year that embraces excellent representation in exemplary shows.
