Makholwa’s thriller set for Showmax debut
South African author Angela Makholwa is set to have her 2007 novel titled Red Ink adapted for television.
The eight-part thriller tells the story of a public relations consultant and ex-journalist who receives an unexpected call from a convicted serial killer, nicknamed The Butcher by the media and her life takes a dramatic turn. The serial killer wants her to tell his life story.
The cast includes SAFTA nominee Nqobile Nunu Khumalo; and SAFTA winners Bonko Khoza, Bongile Mantsai, Jo-Anne Reyneke, Lorcia Cooper Khumalo, Tsholofelo Maseko and Yonda Thomas.
Red Ink is being produced as a partnership between Makholwa’s Britespark Films and Bomb Productions and will be available for streaming from February 12 on the MultiChoice- and Comcast-owned video-on-demand service.
