A Sunday Mutuku Story focuses on a terminally ill man

A Sunday Mutuku Story, directed by Lotusfly Animation founder Nurudeen Momodu, has won the AfroAnimation Indie short film award.

The award ceremony took place at the AfroAnimation Animation Summit, which was held on April 26 and 27 in Los Angeles.

In A Sunday Mutuku Story, a terminally ill man faces his mortality but finds solace in the love of his family. Despite a failed suicide attempt, he learns to accept his fate and find peace in the end.

“This is an incredible honour and I couldn’t be more grateful for this recognition of my hard work and dedication to the art of filmmaking,” said Momodu. “I’m truly grateful for the support and encouragement from everyone who has been a part of this journey. It’s been an amazing journey, and I’m excited to continue exploring and pushing the boundaries of animation.”

AfroAnimation is a platform dedicated to empowering creatives, creating employment pathways and increasing representation in the animation industry. Lotusfly is a Nigerian CGI animation studio that was founded in 2015 and is focused on creating content for brands, kids and families.
