KykNET builds on Banijay’s The Bridge
KykNET in South Africa is adapting Banijay’s reality competition format The Bridge, bringing the number of international versions of the show to 11.
The Bridge sees a group of strangers attempt to build a 220m bridge using basic tools and their bare hands in order to reach an island containing a cash prize.
The format, which was created by Banijay Iberia’s subsidiary Zeppelin, will be produced in South Africa by Red Pepper Pictures.
It has already launched in Australia, Brazil and the UK, where it returned with a second season in 2022.
The South African iteration follows the four adaptations of The Bridge which aired on Prime Video in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland last year, with a version for HBO Max in Hungary launching in August.
The agreement was brokered by Robin Pollok, VP of sales in Africa, Middle East, Greece and Israel at Banijay Rights.
