Kwesé TV cancels deal with Olamide
Nigerian television platform Kwesé TV has cancelled its plans to send rapper Olamide Adedeji and five of his fans to Russia for the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
The decision has reportedly been made after Adedeji – aka BaddoSneh – allegedly breached his contract with Kwesé.
Adedeji originally signed a contract with Kwesé in 2017 ahead of one of his concerts last December. The company subsequently made plans for the all-expenses-paid trip to the tournament.
Discussing the deal last year, Chichi Nwoko, general manager at Kwesé TV, said: “We want to find ways to impact our viewers that engage with us. We believe in Olamide and his success. We want to give him five tickets to bring some of his fans who ordinarily wouldn’t have been able to afford the trip.”
However, in February Adedeji became an ambassador for Kwesé rival Play TV and launched his channel VOTSTV on the cable network. Kwesé TV considers this a breach of contract, according to reports.
Kwesé TV launched in Nigeria last November. It is one of the country’s official broadcasters of the 2018 FIFA World Cup and is fast rising to become one of its leading cable networks.
