Kingdom crowned Nigerian Idol winner
Kingdom Krosiede, from Nigeria’s Bayelsa State, has been declared the winner of the sixth season of singing competition show Nigerian Idol.
The series, based on the much-travelled Idols format that is distributed via RTL-owned Fremantle, entered its sixth run in Nigeria in March, with 11 contestants in the running for the grand prize and other consolation prizes.
For his win, Krosiede received a cash prize of N30m (US$73,000), a new SUV, a recording deal, a deal for three music videos, an all-expenses-paid trip to the Seychelles, a weekend getaway to Dubai for two, a range of Tecno products, a Bigi-branded refrigerator and a year’s supply of Bigi drinks, and a DSTV Explora premium subscription for 12 months.
Krosiede said: “Thank you all so much for the support and love. It’s a whole lot being the winner of something. This decision which you took to make me your idol wouldn’t be in vain. Thank you Africa, thank you Nigeria, thank you Bayelsa, thank you Port Harcourt.”
The show’s producers added on Instagram: “We wish Kingdom all the best as he begins his new life as Naija’s newest idol.”
Nigerian Idol airs on various MultiChoice channels, including Africa Magic.
