Hip TV studio burns down
Nigerian television studio Hip TV, in Ikeja, Lagos, was hit by fire and burned to the ground on Monday evening, reports Gabriella Opara.
A number of staff and neighbours of the studio helped to fight the blaze before the Lagos State Fire Service arrived.
The inferno, which started in the studio, razed decades-old transmission equipment and the entire building before it was contained.
Thankfully no lives were lost, said Hip TV CEO Ayo Animashuan, adding: “Since the incident, there has been an outpouring of support from friends who have called and visited. I wish to thank them all. We assure our clients and fans that this set-back will not affect our production. The show goes on.”
Lagos fire service is carrying out an investigation into the cause of the fire.
