Globo, Côte Ouest renew sales partnership
Brazil’s Globo and Ivory Coast-based Côte Ouest Audiovisuel have agreed to extend their long-standing sales pact.
Under the new multi-year agreement, Côte Ouest will continue to sell Globo series in English- and French-speaking Africa, including Globo titles such as Pantanal, Under Pressure and Aruanas. In total, 53 titles have already been dubbed into French and 29 into English.
Projects previously sold under the agreement include Avenida Brasil, The Clon and Flor do Caribe.
“These are strategic territories for the brand and are highly identified with our telenovelas and series. This shows the engagement power of our products and how they can connect with audiences from different parts of the world,” said Angela Colla, head of international business at Globo.
Côte Ouest CEO Bernard Azria added: “The African and Brazilian societies are extremely similar, maybe because of the important African part in Brazilian DNA. More recently, Globo has invested in series that, in my opinion, can compete with US studios, with a twist that makes them closer to African culture than any US series can get.”
