Nigerian production company FilmOne Entertainment and digital media company Leon Global Media have partnered to remake Nollywood classic Owo Blow.

Owo Blow was a 1996 action-thriller that highlighted social issues like corruption, unemployment, jungle justice and police brutality still prevalent in Nigeria today.

In the family drama, the man of the house was unjustly imprisoned after he intervened in the harsh treatment of traders by the State Task Force during a raid in a market which caused the deaths of several people.

The story is written by Daniel Ademinokan and Musa Jeffrey and will be in cinemas later in the year.

Ademinokan said: “I have been working on this since late 2019. I’m honoured that we can finally share the news. This collaboration between both production companies is a union that has been a long time coming.

“This dramatic and highly emotional action-thriller shines the spotlight on the social issues, and often misguided powers responsible for the vanishing middle class in Nigeria. These same themes are what made the original film an instant classic and remain relevant today.”
