AMVCA names Femi Odugbemi head judge
Femi Odugbemi, the academy director of the MultiChoice Talent Factory, has been unveiled as the head judge for the much-anticipated 10th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Sponsored by drinks brand Amstel Malta, alongside Pepsi, Promasidor, Martell, Tecno, Verve, QuickTeller, Tiger Beer, MTN and Indomie, the 10th AMVCA promises to be a celebration of excellence in African filmmaking.
Final nominees across all categories will be revealed live on Africa Magic channels on March 24, leading up to the grand award event scheduled for May 10 to 11 in Lagos, Nigeria.
Dr. Busola Tejumola, executive head of content and channels, West Africa, MultiChoice, remarked: “The 10th AMVCA is a celebration to mark a decade of brilliance, innovation, and the sheer magic of African storytelling on screen. Tejumola continued: “For this special edition, we have received submissions from films and talent across Africa. Shortlisting is underway, and we are gearing up for the judging phases. We are introducing changes to the award categories, with the Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress categories now being determined by the jury. We are thrilled to announce acclaimed filmmaker, director and producer Femi Odugbemi as the head judge for the 10th AMVCA.”
In his remarks, Odugbemi emphasised: “This prestigious award is celebrated for its unwavering commitment to excellence, and the jury remains dedicated to ensuring that only the most exceptional works earn recognition on the nomination list. Having previously served as the head judge, I can attest that evaluating the remarkable submissions from talent across Africa is an incredibly challenging yet rewarding task. I assure everyone that the final selection will authentically represent the best in the field.”
