Feature film A Fire Within has won the award for best audience documentary at the Atlanta Film Festival.

Filmed in 10 cities, including Atlanta, Georgia, Ottawa, Canada and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the doc chronicles the life of three Ethiopian women who immigrate to the US after surviving torture in their home country.

Once there they discover that their torturer is not only living in the US but is employed at the same hotel as the women. The film is an attempt to bring their torturer to justice in Atlanta.

A Fire Within was produced by Christopher Chambers and Ermias Woldeamlak, and executive produced by Ethiopian-born model and actress Liya Kebede, Jeff Hoffman and Russell Gray. The film is produced via FMRL Media and Above the Clouds and distributed by LA-based Endeavor Content.

Kebede commented on Instagram: “We won.
