Burna Boy, Dube head Black Mic Mac slate
Nigerian singer Burna Boy and South African filmmaker Mandla Dube are headlining the new programming line-up from African production company Black Mic Mac.
The slate features a diverse array of films and TV series, highlighting both emerging and established talents from the region.
Via his prodco Spaceship Films, Burna Boy will executive produce Three Cold Dishes, a thriller directed by Asurf Oluseyi. This project is a collaboration between Ifind, Alma Productions, Asurf Films and Martian Network, with Black Mic Mac serving as a coproducer.
Additionally, Mandla Dube is developing an occult crime thriller titled The Devil Inside. This film is produced by Storyscope, with Black Mic Mac as a coproducer.
Director Ishaya Bako will helm The Three Rascals, a Nigerian comedy adaptation of the Burkinabé hit Les Trois Lascars. This film is a production of Les Raconteurs, coproduced by Black Mic Mac and Black Armada.
Loukman Ali’s Apophenia, an action movie set in Johannesburg, is also in development. The film is produced by Big World Cinema and coproduced by Black Mic Mac.
Other projects include La Sape, a documentary by Congolese filmmaker Jean Luc Herbulot, the crime series The Great Transporter by Alassane Sy and Latigone N’Goma, and the reality show The Cage from François Nyam and Babacar Sy.
Lastly, Black Mic Mac is working on a six-part crime series titled Let the Earth Burn, set in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains, and with Sundance-prizewinning Sofia Alaoui and The Bridge creator Måns Mårlind attached.
Paris-based Black Mic Mac is part of the Logical Pictures Group and focuses on financing and packaging African and Arab movies and TV series.
