The partnership will enable Globecast to supply increased C-band capacity on Azercosmos’ satellite Azerspace-1 as well as general entertainment, news, sport and special events coverage to viewers in the most remote areas of Africa.

Jacques Andreou, engineering manager at Globecast, said: “The high-quality coverage provided by the Azerspace-1 satellite is central to our partnership, alongside the technical support we receive. This cooperation provides increased opportunities and flexibility for our customers.”

Mark Guthrie, chief commercial officer at Azerbaijan-based Azercosmos, added: “Globecast’s adaptable and innovative approach to the market is an important part of our service offering and allows us to achieve great success across Africa.”

Reality series Big Brother Naija will be aired exclusively on the Multichoice DSTV platforms across Africa using Azerspace-1’s capacity to ingest the feeds into Multichoice’s command centre throughout the year. The feeds are being uplinked in Nigeria and downlinked by both Multichoice and Globecast.
