Amazon bags Blue Therapy for Africa

Amazon’s Prime Video in Africa and Paramount-owned streamer BET+ in the US have picked up factual TV series In Love & Toxic: Blue Therapy.
The six-parter, which will premiere in the UK on Channel 4’s youth-skewing network E4 next month, is based on hit YouTube series Blue Therapy, in which five couples offload relationship challenges in a series of therapy sessions,
The show is being produced by UK-based Luti Media, GroupM-owned Motion Content Group and Andy Amadi from Trend Centrl.
The original YouTube series averaged over two million views per episode across 15 territories, including the UK, the US, the Netherlands, Canada, Nigeria, Australia and South Africa.
UK distributor All3Media International is distributing the series and format rights, and secured the deal with BET+ in the US and the pan-African deal with Amazon Prime Video.
Executive producer Luti Fagbenle said: “The original Blue Therapy YouTube series was a global online sensation and demonstrated the international appeal of stories from black British culture. Now, through our partnership with All3Media International, I am thrilled that this bigger and bolder version of Blue Therapy will reach audiences around the world through major platforms BET and Prime Video.”
Amadi added: “This journey has been a labour of love, and I’m grateful for the incredible team who have made it possible, from just a mere idea in my head. Together, we’ve explored the complexities of relationships in a way that’s both entertaining and thought-provoking. I can’t wait to see how it resonates with international audiences.”
