The Creative Youth Initiative Against Corruption (CYIAC) organisation has named screen star Bimbo Akintola as its goodwill ambassador.

Performer and campaigner Bimbo Akintola

Akintola, a prominent Nigerian screen and theatre actress, is a philanthropist who has always been passionate about helping her society.

This began in 2013, when she took part in a walk in Lagos to raise awareness for breast and prostate cancer and a walk for autism awareness in Abuja in 2014. She also hosts an annual Christmas party for children with special needs.

As a CYIAC ambassador, Akintola will help raise global awareness to promote the culture of integrity and to curb corruption among children and young people through creative development and entrepreneurship in Nigeria and Africa.

Akintola will  join other  personalities at the launch and premiere of CYIAC’s Corruption Busters on December 9. The event will be held at Filmone IMAX cinema in Lekki to mark United Nations International Anti-Corruption Day.

Corruption Busters is CYIAC’s contribution to a campaign to help rid communities of corruption by 2030 through educational development in literary arts, music, dance, paintings, digital communication, entrepreneurship, innovation and information technology.

CYIAC believes that art and freedom of expression are the best ways to develop a culture of integrity and a corruption-free society and therefore helps to promote creativity and develop the talents of children and young people.

Registration for the annual CYIAC creative challenge ends on December 30.
