Africa Magic lines up drama The Slum King

Crime drama series The Slum King is set to premiere on MultiChoice-owned channel Africa Magic Showcase next month.
Produced by Chichi Nworah and created by Nworah, Eric Aghimien and Donald Tombia, the show includes Big Brother Nigeria contestant Hermes Iyele; Tobi Bakre, who won this year’s Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards best actor award; and Kanayo O Kanayo in the cast.
The series tells the story of an 11-year-old boy who witnesses a gang massacre his family because he forgot to lock the doors. Overwhelmed with guilt and trauma, he morphs into the charismatic King of the Slums.
“After Chichi Nworah, Eric Aghimien and I created The Slum King and Africa Magic gave the greenlight, I knew the only way to bring the idea to life was to run with the best TV storytellers and writers in the country. If the world is a global village, then it takes the world to bring magic to your screens,” said Tombia.
The series debuts on October 8.
