Lauretta Onochie, special assistant on social media to the president of Nigeria, has advised viewers who find Big Brother Naija offensive to simply stop watching it.

Onochie also pointed out the show is aimed at adults, in reaction to recent calls by Summy Francis, president of Africa’s Youth Entrepreneurs, for the show to be axed on the grounds it lacked moral values and promoting laziness.

In a statement on Twitter, Onochie said: “Stop asking me to fix Big Brother Naija, I don’t have such powers. Big Brother Naija is an adult programme. If your children are watching it, it’s your fault, not mine. Grow up and protect your children. It’s not compulsory you watch. Use your remote, change the channel.”

Big Brother Naija season three, which began on January 28, will continue airing 24 hours a day for 11 weeks on GOtv and DSTV channels 29 and 198 respectively.
